Song of the week: Symphony by Switch ft Dillion Chase

By

If you know me well you’ll know that music and I are a lovely package deal. We are so close nothing can tear us apart. 😁 Need less to say, I listen to a lot of music and recently I’ve been shifting more to Christian music especially when I stumbled upon some Christian songs few years back. My interest in Christian music grew more and I found much more interest in that type of music.

Few days ago I downloaded a song titled Symphony by Switch featuring Dillion Chase and that song has been on repeat ever since. I had listened to like two songs of Switch before then but when I listened to this, I was blown away. Aside the melody of the song, the lyrics got to me. For someone who is big on words, the lyrics of the song was so deep especially the chorus.

Before I go further, let me tell you a little bit about this Christian group, Switch. Yes, it’s a group and not a solo artist. Switch or lcswitch as they are known on Instagram is a group under the church known as Life Church hence the LC in the switch. What I don’t know is if they are the church’s music group or are just associated with the church, that I don’t really know because there is no bio of them on google so don’t bother googling them. What you’ll find is a secular band with that same name. Been there, done that.

LC Switch refer to themselves as light seekers, tribe dwellers and storytellers. Symphony is the name of their debut EP which also features the track symphony.

If you need to reassure yourself that God is with you, this is the song for you. Let’s take a minute to savour the lyrics.

Sometimes its hard to breathe
All the thoughts are shouting at me
Tryna bring me to my knees
And its overwhelming
Darkness echoes all around
Feels like everything is crashing down
Still I know where my hope is found
And it’s only You

Ooooh
You say You’re working everything for my good and
Ooooh
I believe every word

Cause even in the madness, there is peace
Drowning out the voices all around me
Through all of this chaos
You were writing a symphony, a symphony
And even in the madness, there is peace
Drowning out the voices all around me
Through all of this chaos
You were writing a symphony, a symphony

Tune my heart to Your beat
Let me be Your melody
Even when I cannot see
But you orchestrate it
Even when the dark surrounds
You’ll never let me drown
I know that my hope is found
In the name of Jesus

I wanna truly know
If You compose beautiful music though
From all my unruly notes
The distance is dissonance, move in close
Now I see erased the scales from my eyes
Then played the scale in my life
Chaos played off with a chord in accord through strife
And I’ve tasted suffering
I’ve been embraced by the painful buffering
I’ve been bound by doubts, so loud right now
But a melody is made when you play these rusty keys
So we all gotta get pressed
Tuned up like instruments
But I know
All of life’s tempo is set
Whenever we remember this

You can download the song on iTunes or any of those other music apps. If you are an Android user like me, you can download it on Vidmate. 😋
