Why do bad things happen to Christians?

By

I’ve heard this thought that once you become born again and start living for Christ, are you not supposed to be free from all these bad stuffs going on in the world?

I’m sure we’ve all had this thought at one point or the other.

The best explanation I could give to this is that, this world is evil and no matter how much good we do, it won’t stop the world from being evil. Just because you’re a Christian doesn’t mean you’ll become immune to the bad things going on in the world. The devil is the king of this world so, what do you expect? My God is mighty to save but if he chooses not to then it’s for a reason.

Most times it even feels like bad things happen more to Christians and this has made people not want to accept Christ or stop believing that there’s a God. That is what the devil wants. He wants to depopulate the kingdom of God however much he can. He wants to see people reject Christ. He wants to see people who believe in Christ question his existence.

I won’t lie that I’ve not questioned God’s existence before because I have. Sometimes I would sit down and wonder if God is really real. If he’s real then, why couldn’t he stop this from happening? You just hear some news and you’re so devastated and wonder what the point is of serving God? But like I said, this is all the tactics of the devil.

That is why no matter what happens to us as Christians, we need to preserve cause we will overcome. Even though I’ve not heard a scientific fact that proves that God is real, I know he is.

Here are some scriptures to encourage yourself with.

Deuteronomy 31:8

“The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged”.

Psalm 34:18-19

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

Philippians 4:6

Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:38-39

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I particularly like this last one because it’s telling us that nothing should separate us from the love of God. So my dear Christians, even in the bad times, our God is still faithful. His default is good and he’ll never stop being that.
